Personal Background
My name is Megan, & allow me to get vulnerable.
I always loved exploring in nature.
Growing up I was usually not far from the woods or water.
I’ve always been curious how things worked, & the why....
But in nature, you don’t need to wonder.
Just observe.
Allow.
Slow down.
Something I believe we can all benefit from.
Something I took for granted & neglected – only able to get glimpses & leisurely encounters.
I moved to Halifax in 2010 to attend NSCC for Business Administration, then
Architectural Drafting when that didn't work out.
Starting in 2014, I spent 6 years at an architectural office as a draftsman & primary administrator.
The fall of 2020 I went back to NSCC for Construction Management to further my career experience.
I was excited & optimistic.
A New exiciting opportunities & people to learn from. I loved being involved with projects from start to finish, know it's ins & outs & be the go-to person that can find information at the drop of a hat, & there's something about having the quick fingers for AutoCAD felt so satisfying.
I'm sure I'd be great at computer games.
However, it took me a while to realize that I was aiding with destroying the nature that was left surrounding us, for sprawling concrete warehouses, or “affordable housing” that becomes unaffordable after the permits pass.
I needed a change.
I love helping people, & helping to determine their organizational needs,
& how to best incorporate those into their personal space.
I loved design & space planning. Trying to make everything work well,
like tetris, while looking pleasing,
within the deadlines & budget, scope of work & project specifications.
I love to be the person who comes up with the solution based on information at hand,
My goal when working with others is to provide sufficient information with the most efficient procedures & execution, whether that has been in construction or organizing.
My "flaw" however is that I get chronic migraines, suffer from CPTSD, & ADHD.
Between these, a myriad of symptoms can arrive /evolve/ at less than a moments notice.
Years of never being taken seriously, gaslit, physically & mentally abused hasn't aided positively either.
My entire life I have tried to survive in a world where misogyny & narcissism runs abundant, one that doesn't respect those (especially women) with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
In the summer of 2024, I burnt out, hard.
I had been laid off of my job & had no idea where to go. I knew I needed a reset, but I also needed an income. I had plenty of recruiters reaching out, but no one wanted to accommodate working from home "after Covid". With my illnesses, at least having the option without fear of judgement was crucial - but having access to the right environment also lends a hand. What I hadn't realized was how long it had been building.
I hit my boiling point.
AGAIN
I needed a Change...
I thought I would never have the confidence to start my own business,
but I've come to realize it's my only shot to be able to support myself while having a chronic illness.
(or three).
Another goal & business mantra is to assist those who suffer similarily.
We have a shared understanding.
We Take Time with each other
with Compassion & Patience.
To allow the job to be completed properly, in a pace we both can manage,
with systems that are easy to maintain for your needs & any limitations.
I hope that my openness will allow you to put your trust in me to help assist & guide you through your organizing needs & offer peace of mind in some capacity.
Lastly
Black Rabbit refers to my last name - the Hare, in French. le Lievre.
I've always felt like the black sheep in the family; always wanting to do something different,
go against the norm & everyone's glorified expectations.
Thus Black Rabbit Organizing got it's name!
(I know, but Black HARE doesn't
have the same ring to it...)
